The 15th annual All Ford Nationals at the historic Carlisle fairgrounds is well underway despite the wet and rainy weather. I had debated weather or not to make the short trip to the grounds today (Friday), bet decided it was better to go ahead and give it a try instead of spending all day in the motel room. This the 1st time I've been to a Carlisle event and I was most pleasantly surprised. I have included a link here to the history of the events from the Carlisle Events web site.
I was a bit surprised to see so many people walking around in the rain, sidestepping the puddles, and avoiding the mud. Most all the vendors were open both inside and out as patrons trying to dry out were making purchases, including a little from yours truly. The massive area behind the grandstands was mostly populated by swap and parts dealers as well as a few food and merchandise vendors and, again despite the miserable conditions, were doing a brisk business. I was able to get a number of shots in yesterday and today and was REAL happy to see and shoot a number of gorgeous Shelby Mustangs. Wish I had the cash to tow some of them home.
Arrived Saturday morning under some cloud cover, but this changed to bright sunshine and comfertable temps for the rest of the day. There was a good sized backup to get into the park today, but the officials had the lines moving quickly. Got in, got parked with no problems and as I was unloading my gear, display cars were lining up all around to wash their cars. The car wash lite was right behind media parking and had enough room for maybe 20 cars. A local Ford guy was in line with a gorgeous Shelby GT350 and I snapped a few images of him and his car.
